Bring the legendary “Gold of the Incas” to your home garden with our live Lucuma tree (Pouteria lucuma). Native to the Andean valleys of Peru, the lúcuma is a magnificent subtropical evergreen tree prized for producing fruit with smooth green skin and rich, vibrant yellow-orange pulp. Its unique flavor—often described as a blend of butterscotch, maple, and sweet sweet potato—makes it one of South America’s most cherished ingredients for artisanal ice creams, milkshakes, and pastries.
Our young trees are grown with care in 1-gallon nursery containers, fully rooted, healthy, and ready to be planted directly in your garden bed or potted up into a larger decorative container.

How to Care & Grow
1. Planting & Soil: Plant in loose, fertile, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Avoid heavy clay or standing water.
2. Sunlight: Thrives best in full sun (6 to 8 hours daily). Young trees also appreciate light afternoon shade during extremely intense heat.
3. Watering: Water deeply and regularly while establishing, allowing the top inch of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Mature trees develop good drought tolerance.
4. Climate & Protection: Best suited outdoors for USDA zones 9–11. Protect young trees from hard freezes or strong winds during their first winters.
