Grow your own superfood and vibrant culinary spice at home with our live Turmeric plant (Curcuma longa). A cornerstone of South Asian and Southeast Asian cooking, fresh turmeric rhizomes offer a warm, earthy, slightly peppery flavor and a brilliant golden-orange hue that elevates curries, rice dishes, golden milk, and marinades.

Beyond its culinary and health benefits, turmeric is a magnificent ornamental plant. It features broad, lush, bright-green tropical leaves and striking architectural stalks that add an instant jungle feel to any garden bed, patio, or greenhouse. Well-established in 1-gallon nursery containers with healthy root systems, our young plants are ready to flourish and multiply their aromatic underground rhizomes.

Features

– Homegrown superfood: Harvest your own fresh, potent turmeric roots rich in natural curcumin.
– Striking tropical foliage: Large, lush green leaves and occasional exotic cone-like flower spikes.
– Container size: 1 Gallon.
– Easy perennial growth: Expands naturally each season in warm climates.

How to Care & Grow

1. Sunlight: Thrives in bright, indirect light to partial shade. Protect from harsh, scorching afternoon sunlight to keep the leaves vibrant and green.
2. Soil & Planting: Plant in rich, loose, highly organic, and fast-draining soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (6.0–6.5).
3. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during the warm growing season. Reduce watering significantly in late autumn as the leaves naturally yellow and die back for winter dormancy.
4. Climate & Protection: Best adapted to tropical and subtropical climates (USDA Zones 8–11). In colder regions, grow in a container and bring indoors or into a frost-free greenhouse during winter.
