Grow one of the most resilient and delicious passion fruit varieties available with our live Purple Possum Passion Fruit vine (Passiflora edulis ‘Purple Possum’). Originally selected for its superior vigor and remarkable adaptability to slightly cooler climates, ‘Purple Possum’ reliably produces heavy crops of oval, rich purple fruits filled with exceptionally sweet, aromatic golden pulp.
The vibrant juice is a favorite for fresh eating right out of the shell, as well as for crafting tropical juices, smoothies, syrups, and desserts. In addition to the delicious harvest, the vine produces large, intricate, breathtaking purple-and-white flowers that act as a focal point in any garden. Well-established in 1-gallon nursery containers with strong root systems, our young plants are ready to climb and thrive on fences, arbors, or trellises.

How to Care & Grow
1. Sunlight: Plant in full sun (at least 6 to 8 hours of direct daily sunlight) for maximum flowering and sweet fruit development.
2. Soil & Planting: Thrives in fertile, rich, fast-draining loam or sandy soil amended with organic matter (ideal pH 6.0–6.8).
3. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist during the growing and fruiting seasons. Water deeply, allowing the top layer to dry slightly between waterings.
4. Climate & Support: Adaptable to USDA Zones 8b–11. Provide a sturdy trellis, wire system, or arbor for the vine’s tendrils to climb.
